Title: Besides You
Cat No: CPT 097-1
Bettina Costanzo, under her Bougie Soliterre guise, has built up an enviable reputation for producing quality jazz-influenced house tracks that continue to rip dance-floors apart throughout the globe. Bettina has recorded for some of the world’s most recognised independent dance labels including West-London’s People Records, USA’s Sfere Records and her own Flipside imprint whilst remixing for the likes of Sony and France’s Yellow Productions.
Bettina left her hometown Montreal in 1995 and moved to Amsterdam where she soon took up residence on New Dance Radio 99.1FM. In 1996, under the guidance of a certain Roger Sanchez at Narcotic Records, she moved to England to take up the post of Promotions Manager. Since then her profile has continued to grow through her extensive DJ work. Her passion for dance music has led to her founding and running both a UK distribution company, Global Dance, and her own Flipside label which is also gaining momentum with every 12” release. Bettina just released her first album CD on Flipside, which contains all Bougie Soliterre tracks between 1998 and 2000.
Compost Records is very happy to be able to re-release Bougie Soliterre’s wonderful house track “Besides You” as the track is one of Michael Reinboth’s and Rainer Trüby’s long-time favourites. Especially for this release, Compost commissioned two brand-new remixes by Tiefschwarz and Worldless People.
Tiefschwarz are the two brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz from Stuttgart, Germany. They just released their debut album “Ral 9005” on the label Benztown (Four Music). The first album-release “Music” was not only a hit in Germany (No.1 in the MTV Dance Charts and in the German Club Charts), the track also was a huge success in Britain and Francois Kervokian licensed the track for his label Wave Music (N.Y.C.). In recent years Tiefschwarz have become one of the best house- and remix- producers’ in Germany (so far they produced about 30 remixes for artists like Ultra Nate, Masters At Work, Mousse T, Jennifer Paige). So it does not surprise that Tiefschwarz were one of the very few German house music artists who got invited to the Miami Music Conference. And still their music is far from being rated as commercial dance music; instead many DJs from the Independent Underground Dance scene heavily play their tracks.
Their remix of “Besides You” is a fantastic rework. Tiefschwarz’s version turns the original from soul-like West-London House into a glamorous and quite fashionable disco-house track. A top production guarantees the perfect sound for every posh-party.
Tribal House Masters Worldless People just released their second EP “El Primitivo” on Compost. Their remix of “Besides You” is a solid house production – smooth chords and a groovin’ rhythm guitar surround the vocals – you just can’t go wrong with this mix.
Worldless People also did remixes for Soldrhythm´s track “Somebody” on EastWest, then for De Phazz vs. Mr. Rossi and “Viva La Felicita” on EastWest, and finally for Universal Funk’s track “Don’t Take It All” on April Records.
