45 Twister Quotes:

In these days and times 45s are often looked at as a novelty or simply a collectable. You don't see a gang of DJs throwing down 45s at parties. Hell, some don't use any vinyl at all. But for the purest of the pure crate digga this new turntable accessory called the 45 Twister could be just what you've been dreaming about. If you've ever tried to scratch a 45 or double up on two 45s then you'll know it's nearly impossible.
The 45 Twister makes it all smooth though. In the end I'm not big on the idea of scratching 45s but if you think you're a 45 king then you need to get your greezy hands on this nice lil' turntable tool.
Thick Magazin

The 7‘‘ is arguably the finest of all vinyl formats... unfortunately it was a bitch to integrate them into your daily scratch-tactics and beat-juggle workout. These days are over now, thanks to the 45twister. Now even the most precious Funk singles spins solid like a 12‘‘

Sepalot - She Likes Me |CPT 284-1 | 12"

„Hip hop and beyond“ is the best way to describe this teasing 12” single features the unresistable party anthem “She Likes Me” with lyrics by Detroits Frank Nitty (one half of J.Dilla protégées Frank N Dank). The B-side comes along with a rougher edge, keeping it strictly street. “Surrender” is blessed with the lyrical gift of L.A. underground spitter Blu who debuted in 2007 with his acclaimed long player “Below The Heavens”. Pure dopeness!!!..Watch out for his debut album coming later this year
Kawabata - Persuasion |DPC 013-1 | 12"

Lexx aka Kawabata comes up with „Persuasion“ a dubby and reduced house tune with an irresistible groove. Belonging to Zurich’s finest DJs Lexx knows exactly what moves people on the dancefloor.
On the flip-side there’s a stunning remix by Serafin of Mountain People fame. Serafin delievers a percussive monster which is hard to resist. 100% booty shaking with the essence of house music. It’s already a big hit at the Zukunft Club and it’s aiming for this new and yet really old-school vibe of house.
Robert Owens - Night-Time Stories |CPT 285-2 | CD

Ask any fan of dance music who their favourite male vocalist is and nine times out of ten Robert Owens name will come back. Sure, there are other great male house vocalists out there, but with more than twenty years as a gifted singer, songwriter, producer and DJ under his belt, Robert has not so much embellished house music as played a large part in defining it. 'Tears', 'I'll Be Your Friend' and 'Ordinary People' are just some of the tunes that have borne his black velvet voice and gone on to become truly classic dance records. Finally, 2008 will see the release of Robert Owens first artist album in 10 years - 'Night-time Stories'.
Wagon Cookin - 2 Faces Remixes Part 1 |CPT 286-1 | 12"

The brothers Javi and Luis aka Wagon Cookin are coming strong with first league remixes taken from their latest Album “2Faces” for which they got tons of props from illustrious supporters like Osunlade, King Britt or
Markus Enochson
On this 12” it is Mood Music head Sasse and French connection Ludovic Llorca check in to deliever top notch remixes of “Mallorca” and the B-side track “Incredible”. Last but not least Compost newcomer Marbert Rocel join the gang and approve that they are good remixers, too.
Beanfield/Invisible Session - Tides (Ripperton Rmx)/Till The End (Panoptikum Instr. Mix) |CPT 287-1 | 12"

A very special Compost release with two very rare tracks! The A-side features a great remix of Beanfield's "Tides" with amazing vocals from Bajka – of course its not quite up there with the unbelievable Carl Craig mix but then that would be an uphill struggle. Ripperton from the Lazy Fat People adds his moody, deep slant to the track, less anthemic than Carl Craig but a more than welcome alternative. This mix was available for a short time as bootleg with Ricardo Villalobos's remix of Depeche Mode’s "Sinner In Me" on the flip and sold out quickly despite the poor sound quality. Finally, one year later, this great tune sees it official release completely remasterd in chrystal clear sound – get it, play it, love it!

In 2006 the duo Tom Wieland and Marc Frank – better known as 7 Samurai – crafted a fine remix of Invisible Sessions under their Panoptikum moniker. When Michael Reinboth considered this remix for his new Future Sounds Of Jazz compilation the guys decided to contribute even a little bit more: an exclusive new version which became a definitely highlight of the whole compilation. The Panoptikum 2007 Remix surprisingly takes a leaf out of Innervisions' book for a smooth deep houser with a slighty techy sound and a touch of Detroit in the vein of Âme or Henrik Schwarz. In contrast to the vocal version included on FSOJ this 12” features the trippy instrumental version. Ace stuff!
Black Label #30 - Shahrokh Sound Of K. |CPT 283-1 | 12"

After their successful Compost debut single “Owl Flight” and last years overwhelming contribution to the Black Label Series ”Chicago”, Shahrokh Dini and Andreas Köhler (aka Sound Of K) return into the clubs with their third EP – once again on Black Label.
Sascha Dive - DEep | DPC 011-1 | 12"

Sascha Dive is an upcoming young producer from Frankfurt, Germany. He released already various 12“es on labels like Raum Musik, Alphabet City and his own Deep Groove Records and gained much attention by well known DJs.

With DEep he created a huge dancefloor tune which shines in the mix of the mysterious Samuel Davis from Detroit. DEep created a big buzz among DJs like Efdemin, Prosumer, Serafin and many others. The „Annihilating Rhythm“ is also a great tool which works extremely well to build an afrocentric moment in a club. It is the sound of the moment, minimal at it’s best because it approaches the basic groove of house music and it’s really swinging, not like the usual non-sense hopping music which is featured by lots of the big DJs in Techno.
Robert Owens - Inside My World | CPT 282-1 | 12"

This leading three track EP shows the wide range of styles Robert offers as vocalist: from the Jimpster produced house anthem “Inside My World” to the neo soulish “Now I Know” conducted by Atjazz. The B-side “Press On” is the only self produced album track by Robert.

"If God could sing, he would sound like Robert Ownes." ID Magazine
"The voice of house music. Owens is a rare gift!" Mixmag
"The greatest male voice in dance music" Muzik Magazine
Dj Pippi vs. Willie Graff - HyperSpace | DPC 010-1 | 12"

This release is brought to you by the legendary Ibiza DJ Pippi with the promising talent of Willie Graff. DJ Pippi released already various 12“ on labels like Defected and his own Aluminium Records. He remixed people like Chris Rea & Gloria Estefan to name just a few and belongs to Ibiza’s biggest DJs. Willie Graff who lives during the summer in Ibiza and the rest of the year in New York just released the excellent „Brokeback“ EP with Jerome Sydenham on Ibadan Records. He has also released a record on Francois K’s Wave label.

Together they created the track Hyper Space, which is a heavy dancefloor-burner with tribal influences as well as deep and techy elements. It created already a big buzz among DJs like Jerome Sydenham and Martin Buttrich to name just a few.
Compost Black Label #29 - TJ Kong & Nuno Dos Santos | CPT 281-1 | 12"

Great house anthem with vocals from the Chicago legend Robert Owens. Already #1 in the November charts of DJ Karotte and Dirt Crew!!! Massive Support from Peter Kruder and Monica Kruse as well!!!

Karotte:
“This song is a huge atombomb :-) For me one of the tracks for the winter!

Dirt Crew:
“Like both versions very much! Top production!”

Peter Kruder:
"Jesus....straight into my Top 10 of this year.... both mixes are some of the deepest S**t around."

Monika Kruse:
“WOW! Greeeeaaaaat record!”
Compost Black Label #28 - Jay Shepheard | CPT 279-1 | 12"

Named after the city where Jay met his girlfriend, "Romance Gdansk" is a jacking electronic house number stamped with the classic Shepheard retro sound. Carried by a distinctive synthesized bass groove, deep chords/lead and sharp percussion this track is wedged firmly at the peak-time end of the Shepheard spectrum.

On "4NC" Jay turns his attention away from the disco influence of the previous "Black Label #19" release and focuses on a more vintage techno sound. With it's distinctive 'acid' sample, syncopated snares, 909 clap and hypnotic synth-lines this one captures the underground wearhouse vibe of the early 90's.

Taking a moog driven departure into the more melodic side of the 12", "Dirty Cache" builds from an exposed synth line to a thickly layered slab of deep, melodic and trancey Detroit-techno.

On the B2 is Jay's self confessed favorite on this release, "...the party's upstairs". Taking the tempo down a notch this track begins with a modern tech house, almost minimal groove before deep synthesized chords bring it up to its true form. An extended breakdown with Balearic strings completes th picture and allows the track to sit nicely with the current new wave of deep house music.

Eddy Meets Yannah - Once In A While Remixes | CPT 276-1 | 12"

On the house side of things both Simbad and Karizma contribute well crafted dub versions that will make your eyebrows raise and your body move. Karizma’s hand clap driven Kaytronik Dub of “U&I“ already got played by Gilles Peterson in a “My Kinda House“ mix on his Worldwide Radio Show! The Simbad mix is getting played by Atjazz, Karen P and IG Culture!

“Losing Wings“ features lyrics by notorious rhyme spitter Capitol A and a real catchy hook sung by Yannah. Fresh food for all you Bugz In The Attic fans. The remix was forged by fellow Zagrebian hiphop producer Koolade who worked already with legendary US underground MC’s like Masta Ace, Das Efx and El Da Sensei from The Artifacts. Check his single “Beautiful“ on ABB. Finally “Finding Right Tune“ comes up in the same vein. A personal favorite of Eddy Ramich himself!.

Quarion - Karasu Remix | DPC 009-1 | 12"

Welcome along to the latest release of Zurich based label Drumpoet Community. This release features remixes of the succesful „Karasu“ 12“ by Quarion. The original created a big buzz among DJs like Âme, Dixon, Derrick May and Laurent Garnier to name just a few. To present you the richness of Swiss quality House music we decided to introduce you to two of our closer friends.

Deetron is a detroit-tingled producer from Bern. He released this year an astonishing album on the Belgium label Musicman and received a great response. As a DJ he is just incredible, a wizzard behind the decks who is often mentioned in the same sentence like Jeff Mills. For his remix he created a euphoric piece which works really well on the dancefloor.

Crowdpleaser is our other friend from Geneva and releases his music usually on Mental Groove. His remix takes the original vibe of Karasu and is dropping it a few levels deeper. The remix gets already big support from people like Francois Kevorkian, Kalabrese and Luciano.

There are many other things we could say about this record but there’s nothing better than listening to it yourself.

So we hope you enjoy it as much as we do and thank you for your time.

Quotes:

Auch wenn die Klasse des Originals schwer zu toppen ist, ist der sehr eigenständige Crowdpleaser Mix einfach ein wunderschöner Track und gehört sicher zum besten, was auf Drumpoet bisher erschienen ist... Wahnsinn!
Manuel Tur

Already huge fan of the original, i'm really happy to enjoy these remixes. Both are really huge! but the Deetron one drive me crazy! Full support!

Deetron ....is the man
fucking brilliant
Can't wait to play that

Compost Black Label #27 - Motor City Drum Ensemble | CPT 277-1 | 12"

Very few production units in the world have made their reputation growing as fast as the Inverse Cinematics duo of Danilo Plessow & Joachim Tobias. Their distinctive sound signature blending house, chopped up breaks and jazz aestethics has already damaged many dancefloors wordlwide and propelled them into the limited circle of the most wanted remixers. Danilo Plessow is always finding time to work on some new material on his own. Besides solo releases on Pulver he also recorded tracks under the guises Hipster Wonkaz and Aphro Pzyko for Pablo Valentino’s Faces label and Mad Mats Raw Fusion imprint.

Motor City Drum Ensemble concentrates on Danilo`s electronic side. Before he started to go more leftfield/broken-beat-ish with his Inverse Cinematics project, he already was heavily influenced by the likes of Larry Heard, Chez Damier, UR, Moodymann, Mike Huckaby. Labels like Soul City, KMS, Prescription, Harmonie Park and "deep deep house" in general have always been a big part in his DJ sets. His first MCDE release “Breath Control” has just been released on his own label "Four Roses" and already got big feedback from all around the globe: Mike Huckaby, JUS-ED, Dixon, Âme, Tu Rong, 20:20 Vision, Delsin Records and many others are praising "Breath Control".

But Danilo is giving you only a second to catch breath before he follows up with this incredible three track EP on Compost Black Label… this one is a real tekky corker!

Quotes:

Sounds like a good one!
Josh Wink

hey , i like thi sone, black label has been putting out a series of great tracks where i playt most of them recently. this is no exception and congratulation to motor city drum ensemble
Markus Enochson

I had previously heard so much about this guy on different forums but had never heard any release and I have to say this is sick sick sick. I love it without doubt and again Compost just keep on releasing and signing better and better bands and tracks. I can safely predict that 2007 without doubt is going to be the year for compost thanks again for the preview and keep on keepin on
Ian Bright

nice jackin' tracks !
Makossa

Get Slapped /SMK are the best mixes for me!
the nice atmosphere of SMK mix is great!! how they build up the track
nice!!
DJ Pippi

Ahh, feines Teil! Stripped Down To The Bone hypnotisiert mich – seltsame Basement Jaxx Ravetröte, aber genau die muss da rein! Get Slapped Up walzt rücksichtslos über die Tanzfläche, da kann ja nicht so viel schief gehen. Prima!
Manuel Tur

wooohh... love the "get slapped up" - pure jackin' house music, the way i
like it !! with a lot of ambiance... really into it. And listening to SMK
Part 2, i'm glad to hear 909 is back :-) Awesome ep. Will chart !!!
Llorca

dis is the shhhhhhh Charles Webster played me these tunes not long ago, luv all of dem, really really feelin' dem all :-) full support/chart !!!
Simbad Stanislas

Thanks for sending these, quite a complete package. 'Get slapped up' is a nice deep, playful, childish techer in the line of Stefan Goldmann's latest releases, great track for the early (morning)hours, 'Stripped down to the bone' (Is this a homage to depeche mode?) Is definitely the tune I'll use for my radio show, reminiscent of the early
house days. Tune!
Alejandro Asencio (Azuli Records)

I've been supporting get slapped up since i heard Rainer Truby drop it in Croatia at the Garden Festival, then i got straight on to the phone to Danilo to get a copy.... i have played this all over at places like Backtobasics and Panorama Bar and it never fails to hook the dancefloor in especially after the 2nd big break.... thats when it really goes off on the floor. 10/10 for this track and one of my fave Compost Blacks in
ages
Tristan (2020 Vision Records)

'Converted to this guy already, big fan. And another quality outing by the young rascals. Their youth not so misspent after all. Full support 9/10"
Alan Brown (Soul Seduction, Vienna)

I really think Compost has been on a roll lately. I always like Danilo Plessow's Inverse Cinematics stuff. This is a bit darker and even more tense but still great. Get Slapped Up is like Stefan Goldmann meets Inverse Cinematics.
Ennio Styles

I really enjoy these spacy dance tracks. Especially "get slapped up" is wicked. good grooves by drums & percussions plus synth
Toshio Matsuura

Great to see you've signed some MCDE.. I've been playing their "Breathe Control" for over a year now and it's still one of the biggest house tunes out there. These don't fail either and are sure to blow up over the coming months!
Simon Harrison

Damn! Really feeling the low down dirty sounds of "Stripped down to the bone".
Eddie Sholl (The Pro from Down Under)

One good one after each other on Compost Black. Get Slapped Up and MK pt 2 are right up my street. I'll play them out for sure.

Marbert Rocel - Speed Emotions | CPT 278-1 /2 | 2-LP / CD

Sunny sound dots appeared all over the wide valley of Thuringia, Germany - the place where lush moving meadows outshines the ways of masters and servants. Everything began with two upright guys and a fly girl, who had a cup of milk and honey at the late club. By every slug they spread a warm and cosy beat over the folks hearts. Beats like birds flap their wings in the rhythm of warm house and understatement pop. For five years to date they keep to the big bang jigger kings with delight uptempo emo and frickelchick.

Recently Marbert Rocel plucked up their samples and sent good feeling track cards from their train station Zughafen to their main station Compost Records. United they are devising the new zippy album to bring your birdy hearts to fly.

And if you are filled with milk and honey, have a look across the valley. Then you might find the words of the greeds: “Marbert Rocel is like painting tattoos with water colors and playing jazz from both sides of the carrera race track while searching sounds with a touch of old super 8 movies."
(written by Ulrike Dreyheller)

Marbert Rocel is Compost’s latest coup. The duo consisting of Marbert AND Rocel is a trio to be exact: Marcel Aue (producing, DJing and mixing), Robert Krause (producing, DJing and artwork) and Antje Seifarth (Vocals) have always know how to melt down the ears and the sneaker soles of their fellow Thuringians with their House-Jazz-Frickel-Elektroniko-vinyl-tinned-music-performance. But with the release of their debut album “Speed Emotions” it is time to venture out and spread their compositions to all those greedy music appreciators worldwide...

Marcel Aue aka DJ Malik is spinning records as hiphop DJ since about 10 years and is part of the German pop-funk-rap crossover act Clueso, whose records “Weit Weg” and “Gute Musik” were co-produced by him. Robert Krause studies graphic design and responsible for the artwork of „Speed Emotions“ and all other Marbert Rocel releases. The vocalist Antje Seifarth (called „Spunki“ by her friends) was backup singer of Clueso and the jazz project Rhythm Club.

The title „Speed Emotions“ alludes to the emotionality of their songs. Marbert Rocel don’t produce „tracks“ - their compositions are dealing with intensive emotions in that come about swiftly but also can disappear just as quick as they turned up. They take this fast paced ephemerality as integrated concept that pairs lovely melodies with swinging house beats. Genres and their boundaries get ignored intentionally. Besides catchy hits like “ttticticrac” there are dancefloor fillers like “Roll To Roll”. The first single “Beats Like Birds” comes across with a remix by Douglas Greed from the Freude Am Tanzen camp. The muscle packed heart on the album cover describes perfectly how self-confident Marbert Rocel lets emotional perception flow into their songs.

You got to be patient when crossing Marbert Rocel’s path late at night or listening to one of their tracks because you will start thumping with your eyelashes until you see your whole body turning into a non-stop wet wet wriggling – waterfall-esque armpits inclusive!

V.A. - Future Sounds Of Jazz 11 | CPT 275-1 /2 | 2-LP / CD

“Call this what you want - but not Jazz. John Coltrane would turn over in his grave,“ some disappointed customer wrote on Amazon about the Future Sounds Of Jazz series, apparently unaware that the term is used as synonym with the full spectrum of modern sophisticated club music. No matter if the beats are straight or broken, up- or downtempo the music connoisseur Michael Reinboth presents rarities, exclusives and contemporary beauties with a certain jazzy attitude.

So welcome to the eleventh chapter of this exquisite compilation series that was launched wayback in 1995. The longevity may be the most obvious proof for its success – and quality! Not for nothing in the past years Future Sounds Of Jazz has been voted repeatedly one of the best compilation series of all times in English and German music magazines like Mixmag, Jockey Slot and Groove. But instead of being misled to rest on his laurels Mr. Reinboth is only incited to update his track record.

Anyway, a lot of great soulful electronic music out there at the moment and this package right here takes you on a diversified trip into the deeper spheres of advanced dance music. The selection ranges from warm but fragile minimal house by Solomun & Stimming to Christian Prommer’s luscious tech-jazz-rework of Koop. With the rare Extended Mix of “Movin“ by 400 Blows there is even some kind of protoype Nu Disco track from the 80s included.

Business as usual, there is a bunch of exclusive and unreleased highlights awaiting you like the brand new Panoptikum Remix of Invisible Session’s „Til The End“ or „Salome“ by British newcomer Joash. These stand out cuts will be available on CD or for download for the very first time.

Surely John Coltrane would turn over in his grave when hearing this – looking for some more room to dance!

Compost Black Label #26 - Alex Attias presents Mustang | CPT 272-1 | 12"

Alex Attias is a man of many guises. In the past decade the on the go producer from Lausanne has released a remarkable number of records under monikers like Beatless, Catalyst, Freedom Soundz or Mustang. Nonetheless impressive is the list of acts that called him in for remix duties: 4Hero, Joakim, Roni Size, Tony Allen, Ennio Morricone and Incognito. Most recently Dennis Ferrer picked Attias remix of Brifo’s “Mi Piano Rofo” for the In The House compilation on Defected and after the Rose EP on Num Records Alex is about to drop his second solo release for 2007 on Compost Black Label.

“Let The Rhythm Get In” is an exclusive unreleased track from the Mustang project to abridge the waiting time for the next album. The song was originally recorded with vocals but then Alex prefered the dub version for the Black Label release. The EP gets topped off by two dope remixes and some kind of generations clash. First up we got the Compost heavyweights Jan Krause and Michi Mettke – down since day one – reminding us that Beanfield is still a name to count on. The second remix is done by Quarion who made his debut on Compost just some months ago with his stunning Karasu EP on the Drumpoet Community sub label.

Alex Attias is currently working side by side with his brother Stephane on a more dancefloor orientated style than before. The project name is simply Attias and boasts with releases on Still Music, Reincarnation, Planet E and Freedom Soundz. Mustang will return with fresh goodies probably early next year.

“Call this what you want - but not Jazz. John Coltrane would turn over in his grave,“ some disappointed customer wrote on Amazon about the Future Sounds Of Jazz series, unaware that the term has become a synonym with the full spectrum of modern sophisticated club music. No matter if the beats are straight or broken, up- or downtempo the music connoisseur Michael Reinboth presents rarities, exclusives and contemporary beauties – with a certain jazzy attitude at least. So welcome to the eleventh chapter of this much praised compilation series. The longevity may be the most obvious proof for its quality – and succes!

This taste maker EP unites two of the exclusive tracks from the compilation: “Salome“ by the London based producer Joash and “Strictly Instrumental“ by No Theory - a new project of Pascal Schäfer and C.A. Ramirez (Sin & Soul). The Neil Landstrumm track on the b-side didn’t even made it on the final version of the compilation. This rare gem was released first in 1995 on Neil’s Paskal EP...

Watch out for Future Sounds Of Jazz Vol. 11 dropping in late October early November on Compost Records featuring tracks by Dennis Ferrer, Zernep Erbay,Koop, James Din A4, Solomun & Stimming, Blackjoy, The Invisible Session, 400 Blows, Wojtek Urbanski, Yannah Valdevit and more. Surely John Coltrane would turn over in his grave when hearing this – looking for some more room to dance!

The Lost Men - EP | DPC 008-1 | 12"

Welcome along to Drumpoet’s release No. 008. The Lost Men are 3 guys with a couple of years experience in the musicbiz. Bernd Kunz who’s to some of you better known as the man behind „A Forest mighty Black“ released the first ever Compost Record. His musical partner at that time was Rainer Trüby. After moving to Zurich last year he joined in and shared the studiospace with Alex Dallas and Alex Gustafson. Back in the day they were running Straight Ahead Recordings and released their music as Earthbound, when they closed their label after 6 years in 2004, they had a break of releasing music,. In the meantime Alex Dallas started with friends Zurich’s well known clubs Dachkantine and in 2005 the Zukunft. Alex Gustafson became a specialist in Musicdownloads. Since a few months the three started playing around and experimenting again in the studio.

With their first release on Drumpoet they created a truly emotional work with 3 cuts. Their musical inspiration came through the machines, switching knobs and starting to jam with old synths, dubbing the mixer and arranging with mute buttons. Against their own musical past which used to be more songbased they created tracks which include the original electronic way of doing things. The were inspired by people like Lee Perry or Kraftwerk to name a few and the early raw music of Chicago and Detroit. What came out is a very strong, unique and personal view on house and techno music. The tracks created a little buzz since they been around on CDR and were playlisted by various DJs like for example Âme. They are currently working on new material and we’re already excited to hear the forthcoming music by The Lost Men.

There are many other things we could say about this record but there’s nothing better than listening to it yourself.

So we hope you enjoy it as much as we do and thank you for your time.

Compost Black Label #24 Houseworx Part 1 | CPT 269-1 | 12"

Just follow that dusty groove that makes your body jack and move! Blacklabel #24 features two tracks by MUALLEM and CHRISTIAN PROMMER that resulted out of a swift studio live session to overcome rainy days in Bavaria. The two analog aficionados met spontaneously in order to make an old, nearly dead TR 808 regain its powerful swing after having been unused for the past 20 years. As consequence, they recorded a 30-minute live synthesizer session and decided to work separately on that fine piece of music. The result is HOUSEWORX PT. ONE! Two tracks that envisage the electricity of jackin’ bodies inside some old warehouse in between Chicago and Detroit.

CHRISTIAN PROMMER, to many known as the producer of Voom:Voom and other well known projects, is currently stirring waves with various powerful remixes as well as his forthcoming DRUMLESSON album on Sonar Collective. “I CAME TO PLAY” is a strictly live jammed track that never rests during 10 minutes of improvised deepness. Just try it out and watch dance floor zombies getting tanned again. A rocker for the magic moments.

On the flip, MUALLEM’s titanic statement “I CAME TO JACK” makes it quite clear: “That’s what I came for and that’s what I want you to do!!!” Keep it spinning and see how crowds turn into an army of jackin’ soldiers. Influenced by his love for the early days of acid he created a rhythm that reminds us of the good old Trax vibe, merely transferred into here and now. While his debut “FRANKIE SPLITS” last year gained heavy attention as well as his remix series “MUTATIONS”, he focused since then on his BINGO project and remixes for Voom:Voom, Terranova and others.

Wojtek Urbanski - Violet Violin | CPT 268-1 | 12"

Poland in da house! Wojtek Urbanski is an aspiring young musician from Warsaw. The student of African cultures and languages started producing HipHop beats in 2002 for some of his rapping friends. But when being introduced to an album of the Cinematic Orchestra he got struck with fascination. Their rhythmic patterns opened his mind for a new musical style. Soon he left HipHop behind and started concentrating on nu jazz and digging deeper and deeper back to its traditional roots in the 60s and 70s. Nowadays he names jazz heroes like Herbie Hancock (Sextant, Crossings, Head Hunters), Miles Davis (Live Evil, Bitches Brew), Wheather Report and Sun Ra as his main influences.

On his first outing on Compost Records Wojtek offers two fine future jazz tunes – one with a catchy violin sample over a broken beat the other in a more relaxed bar mood. On the remix side of things he gets support by two of Polands most renowned contemporary producers grafting this record with an all star line up. Maximilian Skiba makes the Violet Violin look good on the dancefloor, building a stomping Nu Disco track around some funkdified keys. Envee is one half of the acclaimed producer duo Innocent Sorcerers, making mad noise with their releases on Raw Fusion and last years Koop remix. His Ponglish Dub Remix is like a broken beat journey to Deep Bass Nine…

Quotes:

One of the most exciting releases on Compost recently - and i do definately speak about the Originals!
This is my kinda Compost sound, this is what makes this independent label always worth checkin'. advanced and very fresh, incorporating the "old" styles though. MR , keep on searchin'.
Michael Rütten (Soulpatrol)

Really like Max Skiba's take, very relieving to here some new dance music with more than 3 instruments playing more than 3 notes !
Dimitri From Paris

I really like violet violin feat anna tracks . i actually love both of them them very much great nu jazz business. the mixes are cool too so on the whole its a great pèackage.
Alex Attias

B-side wins again! Being a big Innocent Sorcerers fan, I wasn't surprised that the Envee mix turned out to be my favourite. As with the best IS tunes, this one's got tough broken beats and lots going on to keep it interesting right through.
Ennio Styles

Envee dreht ja ziemlich durch, der skiba remix ist super!
Robin Hofmann (Pulver Records/Dublex Inc.)

A2 - The original is excelent, a great production so early in his career for sure! Really Original, Playing on my little radio shows. B1 - Piano Pianoli, Again this is really original, I would more like to hear a full album of this guy, he seems to have something going on.
Atjazz

Nice wired tracks. I love 2 tracks of violet Violin. And Piano Pianoli feat Anna Karamon is massive jazz track, nice swing big big tune, of course this is my favourite!!!!!!!
Jun Matsuoka (Patchworks Ginger Xpress)

'Brilliant, totally fresh music, well done that man and so nice to hear something for the first time. Very inspiring, 10/10.'
Alan Brown (Soul Seduction, Vienna)

Another fine release you have for the label. The Max Skiba mix of Violet Violin is very lovely indeed. Can't wait to hear this out on a loud system.
Damian Wilson

Skiba remix sound cool. I like this kinda dirt disco vibe. I love the original mix, this slow tempo and this vibraphone mixed with violin is my thing. Thanks !! I like the Piano Pianoli, but the dub one is my fav!!
Greg Cauzot

Nice m.skiba rmx!
Makossa

I'm really digging the Max Skiba's italo mix, I'd be glad to get it + the Envee's Ponglish version, I'd play them.
Cosmo Vitelli

Very nice !!
Favorite is the skiba remix. Smooth disco.
Can Oral (Captain Camatose)

Piano Pianoli is the one.

Marbert Rocel - Beats Like Birds | CPT 271-1 | 12"

Marbert Rocel is Compost’s latest coup! The duo consisting of Marbert and Rocel, has always known how to melt down the ears of the Thürigians, the sneaker soles of hipsters, and the hearts of women everywhere with it´s „House-Jazz-Frickel-Elektroniko-Vinyl-tinned music performance“. But now its time to venture out, do the next thing and let the music come down to all greedy music appreciators. In times when it is harder and harder to brush your daily bread with lovely caviar, these two are some of the few with the means to fight for their daily silver cutlery.

Since Marbert Rocel lives in Germany they’re not exactly able to earn their money as employees in Disneyland. This explains why they must take Mickey’s glove and mess around with wriggly beats, which one could find as the appropriate soundtrack to the Coyote’s hunt for the Road Runner. So you can now listen to the Road Runners „Miiip, Miiiip“ instead of the typical rave signals, always calling you on to dance.

At this point they paint tattoos with water colors, playing Jazz from both sides of the Carrera race track, at which at no end you’ll find the boys drinking milk with honey and the color essence of old Super8 movies. Clueso and Metaboman often say that the two have „collected a lot of experiences in knowing which buttons and sine waves are best for giving life to their characters.“

Better be patient when you are crossing Marbert Rocel’s walkway late at night or while listening to their tracks, cause you’ll start thumping with your eyelashes until you see your whole body turning into a non-stop wet wriggling inclusive waterfall-esque armpit.

Watch out for the debut album coming up in October!!!

Quotes:

sounds good. Beats like birds orig sounds a bit like a herbert production, which is great! Nice sounding record!

Functions") well, then its these guys on "Beats like Birds". Beautiful!
Zwicker

Interesting, i like it, it reminds me of times in the early 90's.. in a
ravey/festival way..very fresh sounding yes please..
Tim Faberge

I like the coverartwork very much. The music is nice, but definitely not for peaktime. The vocal is great.
Minus 8

Jay Scarlett (Beat Dimensions Amp Soul Music)

As the title says "Beats like birds" really sweet deep-electro-groovy tracks with angelical vocals, reminding me the marvellous Bodyly Functions from Matthew herbert in a way. Congratulations to Marbel and Rocel, really good!!!, will definitely play it on the radioshow
Enrique Domenech

I like this Marbel Rocel release. It's more in the Compost records tradition. My prefer track is 'beats like birds' original version.
Luca Roccatagliati a.k.a Dj Rocca

Black Label #23 - Manuel Tur & Dplay | CPT 264-1 | 12"

Once again Compost Black Label is coming up BIG TIME! For release #23 we got hold on up-and-coming deep house duo MANUEL TUR & DPLAY. These two youngsters have just released the much praised PORTAMENTO EP on Freerange which is gettin love from everyone and yo mama (Hipp-E, Kerri Chandler, Fred Everything, Karizma...) closely followed by the hypnotic REST YOUR SENSES EP on Drumpoet Community. But like Tic-Tac-Toe they hit three in a row and give you an other massive three tracker on Black Label!

Altough being comparative young, MANUEL TUR & DPLAY are two real kids being into it. They have soaked up house culture with every pore and make you feel this when listening to their productions. Every track displays not only an infelt deepness and warmth but also a profound internalized understanding of the groove. There is nothing constructed about the music. Manuel and Dirk act on instinct straight from the heart but with a certain musical straightness, which comparable can only be found within the INNERVISION posse.

CLOCK SHIFT is a very deep but groovy track made to enchant the crowd with its playful melody. On the flip side things are spicing up a little bit. MOVE comes up with a techy bass line while CONCORD – the best kept secret of this EP – is building slowly and then hits you after the minute mark with the full load cutting synth stabs. Infectious grooves!!!

Quotes:

yo nice tracks....will be in my box for early evening gigs
Tomas Barfod

I REALLY LIKE THE CLOCK SHIFT TRACK and the move !!.. NICE TIGHT DRUM WITH DOPE STABS as implayin this sundya night with djulz and christian from ame those tracks will be perfect for that night! so that will be good for the audiance !!..
Franck Roger

thanx for sending this great music again.. well I can already say
that I am a fan of these guys already... even though its deep stuff for me, I just
love it.. and its perfect for early morning sets! I think my favorite one of there is "move" chordy and old school... will play for sure.. starting this WE
Reynold (Trenton Records)

'Again, this sort of this isn't supposed to be my bag, being a little Hip Hop boy, you know? But I find myself on the right end of a rainy day and I see how this would murder a big soundsystem and really keep the people happy on a Sunday afternoon. Clock Shift has a lovely build, so lovely that when it comes around the final corner, no one will deny its power. Move is most club friendly and might work as a great dj tool, and Conchord is the pick of the bunch, hypnotic as a motherfucker. Cool stuff CBL!
Huwston (Knowfoowl/Bebop & Rocksteady)

this is once again top quality dancefloor electronicsssssssssss....
full support from me .
Alex Attias

another lovely deep number that i will play everywhere
Laurent Garnier

Very nice ep indeed. All tracks are very playable for me.
Tiger Stripes

this is cool really nice warm vibes perfect for the new residency at 205 club in nyc
James Friedman

Thanx for the promos. As usual, i'm really into the music you release.
I've been playing (and charting) "Move" and "Concord" for a month, as manuel
tur and i have a common friend who gave me the tracks. Very good reactions
on dancefloors. "Clock shift", that i didnt know, is as good the two other
tracks. Great record.
Llorca

I work with james lavelle- and i`m really feeling this release here and i`m sure james will as well. My favourite track here is conchord- amazing production. want to hear
more form this a lot.
Matthew Puffett & James Lavelle

All round a great record... I've been feeling all of Manuel and DPlay's recent output and this release is no exception. All three are cool but Concord Stands out for me.
John Shepheard

Nice three tracks.
My favourite track is Clock Shift, deeper track, a little pretty melody. I love this one!!!
Jun Matsuoka (Patchworks Ginger Xpress)

Love all three tracks and will play and support for sure. Difficult to say
which is my favorite. My only criticism is that they all sound pretty
similar....I guess this is a double edged sword...good for developing a
sound but I guess people want to keep hearing an evolution in the sound.

EDDY MEETS YANNAH - ONCE IN A WHILE | CPT 265-2 | CD

ONCE IN A WHILE…
Every now and then you stumble across something special at an unexpected place. Like Gilles Peterson put it three years ago: “Travelling the world on the constant search for the perfect beat, a soulful source has been found in Zagreb where Eddy Meets Yannah have dispatched one of this years most soulful electronic forays. It’s all about Croatia baby!” Indeed there are lots of things happening in the Balkan state. Every year there are over 10 million people spending their holidays at its Adriatic coastline making it one of the most popular tourist regions in Europe. Furthermore Croatia is scheduled to be the next country to join the European Union. And with their critically acclaimed debut “Just Like…” the gifted duo Yannah Valdevit (producer, singer, musician, songwriter, arranger) and Eddy Ramich (producer, arranger, DJ) definitely put Zagreb’s flourishing yet unheard music scene on the map!
After two more great singles and some much praised remixes (of Arthur Verocai, Elisabeth Shepherd, Bobby Caldwell, etc.) finally the time has come for album number two! On their sophomore effort “Once In A While” the duo offers a joyful fusion of sophisticated soul, urban beats, future jazz and sweet R’n’B harmonies to die for. Guest features include legendary Earl Zinger, rhyme spitter Capitol A and Canadian soul sister Amalia. As regarding content the 16 new tracks deal with the burden of everyday life and take you through the full spectrum of possible moods: from total satisfaction, the rational approach to everything that bugs an individual and the urgent need of logic and order in an unstable environment to a total hysteria and disagreement with the rest of the world.

SOLID GROUND…
Eddy Ramich has a lively history and is far from being a no-name in the music business. Being born in the Netherlands but of semi-Slovak / semi-Croatian nationality, Eddy spent his childhood alternating in the Netherlands, Slovakia, Libya and Germany before settling down in Croatia in the early 90s to study at the Faculty of Business Economics in Zagreb. Before teaming up with Yannah in 2003 he has released already a long list of productions with his former partner Dus under the alias of Eddy & Dus. Their album “High Life” as well as the remixes of international acts like Ennio Morricone, Sun Ra or Nicola Conte were causing a stir in the future jazz world.
Spinning records since the late 80s Eddy has become a global player DJ with unbelievable technical and musical skills always creating a positive party vibe. Since 9 years he is hosting the clubnite Kontrapunkt at the Aquarius in Zagreb featuring guest DJs like Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova, 4Hero, Carl Craig, IG Culture, Bugz In The Attic, Rainer Trüby and many more. A huge success for this kind of music in Croatia! The Eddy Ramich One Man Radio Show on Radio 101 ist getting bigger and bigger too! It is one of the few shows in Europe that are presenting underground soul, hiphop, jazz broken beats and soulful house at daytime on a major radio station. In 2006 he was voted “Master of the Mastermix” by the radio show Modaista on the Japanese station J-Wave. His radio mix was picked as the best among other mixes by big dogs like Gilles Peterson, Bugz In The Attic or Darren Amerson!!!

Quotes:

“With a wide range of styles Eddy & Yannah delivers everything from boogie rhythms, broken stompers and even soulful pop numbers. The 2nd coming for this combo will definitely open many doors. Its simply good shit!”
Mad Mats (Raw Fusion Rec)

“Cool summer soul from the massive in Croatia, wicked songs and the days left with a beautiful feeling, big love and respect.”
Joe Davis (Far Out Recordings)

“A real soulful grower from Yannah aka &Mac226;Schatzi Luftwaffe’ and the man Eddy &Mac226;Bogdan’ Ramich. I like...“
Rainer Trüby

“The dynamic duo have progressed onto something simple, yet deep, a whole lot more rounded than their first record. This album is more daring, yet more mature. The clever mixture of styles creates a quite unique mood, and the guest vocalists mix perfectly with Yannah's well trained voice. Altogether a great achievement for Zagrebs' King and Queen of jazz/dance/pop crossover!”
Domu

“A lovely broken beat album, good tunes for radio play.“
Alex Attias

“Perfect perfect summer album! Watch out for Bad Fairy & Preacher Song..Heavy!”
Karen P

“Eddy & Yannah once again collaborate to create magic, with the end results being a step up from their excellent debut. Richer and more mature in every respect, "Once In A While" is an accomplishment that the Croatian duo should be proud of, and music lovers will be rewarded.“
Velanche (Urban Landscapes Radioshow / XLR8R / Giant Step)

"It's an colorful and flavorful album with positive energy and fun!"
Mari Kimura

would love to playlist this on the radio Lovely ep
Laurent Garnier

These four tracks really set the standard for what looks to be a great album.
Simon Harrison

that sounds really good
Dj Vadim

I love “ONCE IN A WHILE.“U&I” very much. I have been refreshed from these track.
Aki Teraishi

I have always liked eddy and yannah, as they are very good friends of mine. Its a very good album, u & I being my favorite. Yannah's chords are always on point in my book! A great team.

Compost Black Label #25 - Wagon Cookin Christian Prommer Remixes | CPT 270-1 | 12"

Side A:
1. Start To Play - Christian Prommer Main Mix
Side B:
1. Start To Play - Christian Prommer Piano Mix
2. Start To Play - Christian Prommer Jam Mix

Compost Black Label #25 is some kind of premiere, because this is the first remix EP in the whole Black Label series. The protagonist in this one man play is the Bavarian jack-of-all-trades CHRISTIAN PROMMER in a new staging of WAGON COOKIN’s “START TO PLAY”. In the past Prommer has been co-staring in classic performances like TRÜBY TRIO, FAUNA FLASH and VOOM:VOOM. Right now he is stirring up waves of enthusiasm with his own DRUMLESSON project on SONAR COLLECTIVE and his floorshaking tech-jazz-meets-classic-house-reinterpretation of KOOP’s “DRUM RHYTHM A”.

But now draw the curtain and experience Prommer’s play going through a real strong development giving each of the three acts a significant and distinctive character. From the slowly building ecstasy in the main mix and the uplifting joy in the piano scene to the sublime floating and jamming in the closing act – he convinces in every role. Great deep house theatre!

Quotes:

Woohaaa! Very nice indeed!
All mixes are essential but the main mix is doing it on the deep electronic
tip. Definitely get plenty of action out of this one.
Jamie Odell (Freerange Records)

fantastic!!!!
Funk d’void

Absolutely love this. All mixes are wicked
Ashley Beedle

Are you kidding me? part 2 is just MAD! i love the beatz and the bass and most off all the pianochord, but also part 3 is of the hissay with its OLD SCHOOL feel.
Matz Flores

Yes yes, Piano Mix is superb!

This man along with his Drum Lesson project is tearing it up right now. 3 very classy mixes by Christian Prommer indeed. Perfect for the Black label, 9/10.
Alan Brown (Soul Seduction)

Alex Attias

that Piano mix is nothing short of genius.
True house solider.
Nitzan (Fine Art)

wowowow... what a great tune! Totally my sound right now..
old school detroit deep groove for the original, and this piano version is so DOPE!!!!! old school jazz piano lines... the recording sound of the piano is actually really cool! cant tell if its an old sample or if its played out...great release, we going back to the basics but with the sound of today... perfect :-)
Reynold (Trenton Records)

Christian Prommer Can't Do wrong !!! Nice Packet Of mixes
Dj Nova (Rodon Fm 95)

Astounding set of pure dance floor remixes from Prommer who seems to be able
to do no wrong solo. It's hard to choose from such good mixes - both the Piano mix (can you say "house music all night long?") and the more techy "Jam mix" will be in rotation for different parts of the night. Will be charting in August chart. To my mind the best release on Black Label to date. Max Respect

Quotes:QUOTES ON “HIT THE BIT”
“Sounds great - dark electro vibe between Cybotron and Prince!”
(Justice – Ed Banger)

“Ben Mono's music helped get my girlfriend pregnant!“
Diplo

„I love the songs "Transmission" and "Don't you love it"
(Egyptian Lover)
Ben Mono - Hit The Bit Remixed |CPT 274 - 1| 12"

The next smash hit and title track from Ben Mono’s last years album! Smashing against the sonic perimeter it features vocals by the royal Miami Bass bitches Yo Majesty from Tampa, Florida. The bossy braggadocio of those kryptonite pussies sounds like ESG teaming up with JJ Fad and the Geto Boys….
Three remixers from three different sound territorries are giving a glimpse on Ben Mono´s innumerable preferred styles. From Alan Braxe-a-like Hip House (Lorenz Rhode) via Swedish clashy electro punk (Dibaba) to very British basslines that could cause severe earthquakes if not kept under strict fader control (Loose Cannons) – all mixes provide an advanced and 100% dancefloor compatible approach to the rap oriented original which will easily satisfy even the biggest DJ snob
Drumpoems - Verse 1 |DPC 012-2 | CD

With so much good homegrown music it was no big deal for the labelowners Alex Dallas & Ron Shiller to compile their first Label Compilation CD.
What came out is a story based on a vision of a few guys from Central Europe, of course influenced by legendary music from Detroit and Chicago but definitely translated into the daily life of the drumpoets. Some say their type of House is truly refreshing and original, maybe because they don’t necessary aim to be played peak-time in superclubs.
The honest attitude of Drumpoet is underlined by positive reactions and support from people like Carl Craig, Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Âme, Henrik Schwarz, Dixon, Jazzanova, Pepe Bradock and Chateau Flight to name just a few.
Drumpoems - Verse 1 EP |DPC 012-1 | 12"

This teasing 4 track EP combines the previously unreleased tracks of Foster, Kawabata, The Lost Men and Soultourist on vinyl. Deep house heaven!
Manuel Tur -Deviate |DPC 014-1 | 12"

Yeah, the boys from Essen Germany are back with 2 delightful tracks of stunning deepness. Manuel Tur who’s also known for his works on Freerange Records belongs to Germany’s promising Talents when it comes to House music. With his recent Remixes for Nick Holder for NRK, Milton Jackson as well as for Random Factor, he gained an excellent reputation. With his partner DPlay who is a great House DJ and Resident at Essen’s Club Hotel Shanghai, they are producing emotive dancemusic with a touch of dub and grooves which are hard to resist.

With Deviate and Mild Pitch they continue their uncompromising way and vision of their personal view of future house music. Deep, reduced and booty-bouncing. The tracks gained already much attention from well known DJs around the globe. Relax, unwind and enjoy the sound of Essen.
