"This is a killer track!" Russ Jones (Futureworldfunk, UK)

"Killer! Brilliant!" Zukie 173 (A Few Among Others, Switzerland)

"One of the best 12" this year. Respect." Luke McKeehan (Nordic Trax, Canada)

"The Telos remix works well in my deeper sets." Kevin (Fine Cut Bodies, Hungary)

"Leaving aside lsoul8's excellent house mix of Telos on the flip, this is all about Amp Fiddler's sublime, brilliant mix of Subdued. It is perfect and certainly as good as anything on his own album, if not better. He lets the song sing, supports it with clean drums, simple arrangements and a barmy solo towards the end, just to let you know he's still there. Ain't nothing subdued about this." Bill Brewster in IDJ *****

Long awaited 12" follow-up to Rima's debut of last year, 'This World' - A fresh provocative celebration mix mash of shelf broken beat, detroit techno, boogie and jazz fusion! To Domu and Volcov 'Subdued' is “the instrumental everybody seemed to like but never got around to performing on..a quick decision to work with George Levin turned this little intrumental into a touching, soulful ballad about
keeping your ex-partners at a distance. George is a bad boy.."
Along came Amp Fiddler dedicating time and buttered the track with his very own treatment to improve the level of 'soulfulness' dangerously. Serious slivers of spaced-soul, filth-funk and grooves. Dive into his new album 'Waltz Of A Ghetto Fly' on Genuine Records. The collaboration with Raphael Saadig, Jay Dee and Moodyman does pay off and makes one wonder what's gonna happen next.

Rima themselves laid praws on the loose funky Brazilian catcher this is 'O Vento Dira' (which means 'The wind will answer'). By the way, those chords were influenced by an obscure Larry Young track. Who is the man behind Isoul8 you may wonder now. Ha, it's one of Volcov's countless disguises. So it's all in the family about mixing the dark and weird 'Telos'..the Italian founder of Archive and Neroli Productions likes to work with the synonym when it comes to housier tracks. Attentione prego. This muzak is far from being subdued! Responsible for the artwork has been pioneer graffiti artist Delta who's already designed the artwork of previous Rima releases and enriches design group DEFUMO (www.defumo.org) with his complex, 3-dimensional style.

Let It Go

12" Tracklisting

Side A
1. "Let It Go" Titonton & Tejada Rmx (6:18)
2. "Let It Go" Dub Mix (4:51)

Side B
1. "Let It Go" Rima House Rmx (6:29)

It's not your fault. It's probably a misunderstanding. I understand. It'll be all right. Give it some time. It'll come back. It's just the way things work. It's gonna work out just fine. Maybe it's better this way. It will happen. Yes, it will happen. It's all good. Just Let It Go. Let It Go.

Cross my heart, Rima's second single "Let It Go" of their debut album "This World" is one of the friendliest, encouraging and most infectious grooves that have been spinning the decks during the last months! According to Domu, who produced and wrote parts of the song, "...this is a track for the dancefloor, an overall rounded contribution from Volcov, Julie and myself...Ms. Dexter's performance giving the smooth production the edge it needed to become one of the album's high points!" And he's right, Julie Dexter's voice gliding in shape of a beautifully jazzed-up vocal-lick over the melodic but discrete instrumental is just what the track needed!
Musically the "Let It Go" Titonton & Tejada Rmx comes across in a powerful but peaceful mood combining strong, grooving beats with minimalistic, electronic harmonies. The Dub Mix seems to be more patient, with Julie gently reminding us not to look back by singing that it's "...time to move on". The listener finds himself agreeing, wordlessly accepting her instructions by curiously comforting himself in Julie's sweet, oh so sweet lullaby. The B-side contains a 4/4 Rima House Rmx with a solid, steady bassdrum underlaid by the original's melody. This combination will definitely make your heart pound against the inside of your chest in a rib-breaking manner!

JCR's latest addition to their fine artist pool is Rima who release their highly anticipated debut album, that features contributions from acclaimed artists and vocalists such as Ian O'Brien, Julie Dexter, Mark De Clive-Lowe, Kaidi Tatham, Nicola Kramer amongst others.

Rima is a new project held by Domu and Volcov.

Domu has been playing out for around 10 years from the age of 14,the styles and venues have been varied. The early years were mostly warehouse parties, which then progressed into playing at legal venues such as The Sanctuary, Milton Keynes, at the height of the Jungle/Drum&Bass era. Moving into producing was inevitable, so as Dj'ing took a back seat for a couple of years in '94, making music was the priority (as well as being at school). As the production improved, contact was made with Reinforced Records, a long respected label, and some early tunes were released in '96/97, first as Static Imprints, then as Sonar Circle. Also around this time, work began with friends from school in a band called the "Collective Unconscious", who still now contribute to Sonar/Domu projects. This new perspective opened up another world from the familiarities of Hip-Hop and Drum and Bass - the spectrum of Jazz-Funk and Fusion became relevant. DJ work now began to crop up from the recognition of these productions with Reinforced, a list of 12" releases, remixes and compilation inclusions steadily increasing. Domu was created from the ashes of the experimentation that can be heard on "Radius", the first L.P from Sonar Circle, which could now fuse all these elements far more easily than was possible within the restrictions of the Drum and Bass mainframe. After his album on Reinforced and singles and contributions for labels like 2000 Black, Visions, Neroli, Spinning Wheel, Bitasweet and Skin Deep, he has released his debut Domu album "Up + Down" for Archive. Dominic has also worked with Seiji and Mark de Clive-Lowe on a project called Kudu for Bitasweet as well as keeping creating forward thinking drum'n bass under the Sonar Circle moniker. His remixing skills are becoming more and more in demand nowadays, as he already reworked music by the likes of 4 Hero, Jazzanova, King Britt and Cinematic Orchestra!
As Dj Domu played at many fine places including: WMF (Berlin), Club Boogaloo (Pfarrkirchen), Into Something (Munich), Rootdown (Freiburg), Loop (Tokyo), De:nile (Kagoshima), Kontrapunkt (Zagreb), Kerma (Helsinki), Mercati Generali (Sicilly), Pergola (Milan), Co-op (London), Plastic People (London), Cargo (London), The Big Chill (Wiltshire), Jazz Cafe (London), Fabric (London), The Jazz Rooms (Brighton)

Besides Rima other pseudonyms where Domu is involved include Kudu, Realside, Zoltar, Yotoko and possibly a million more…

Volcov was born In Verona (Italy) in 1973 and lived in Milan from 1992 to 1997, moved to London in November 1997 until November 1999 and finally returned to Verona - for the moment. He started Djing in 1988 with Hip Hop, but turned rapidly to House (early Mr. Fingers, Nu Groove) and Detroit Techno (Derrick May, Carl Craig). DJed in small clubs in Verona forming a crew called Psyche Group, then again in Milan (spinning eclectic and drum'n bass). Volcov soon formed Italian drum'n bass label Sonica with Frank Siccardi from publishing company Di Più in June 1997 and organized a regular Sonica night at the Pergola Club (Milan). During these club nights, he introduced to Italy guests like Photek and played in live P.A.'s with Paradox (Reinforced and various other UK labels). Sonica got recognition from the whole deep drum'n bass scene community and Volcov's singles were regular features in Fabio's show on Radio One (BBC).
Then, in the summer of 1998, again with the backing of Di Più, Enrico created the Archive label as a real need to express his musical influences and interests. The label quickly became a favourite of all the best eclectic DJ's worldwide. January 2001 has seen the birth of another label: Neroli Productions. Neroli is a more housey-tracky label as well as the home of all his activities (merchandise, productions, projects).
As producer Volcov also works under the Isoul8 name for more housey projects as well as collaborating with Paradox for Archive, 2000 Black and other labels. He also keeps delivering stylish dancefloor remixes for various labels and artists worldwide (F. Valentine, SK Radicals, Modaji, Big Bang…). From 1999 Archive has been running a monthly session at the Pergola Club with artists and friends of the label. Also Enrico has also been djing regularly in various clubs worldwide, most notably: Liquid Room, Tokyo (2000 Black party), Loop, Tokyo (Archive tour), Into Something, Munich (Compost), Bogaloo, Pfarchirken (Spinning Wheel), Raw Fusion, Stockholm, Meierei, Wien (Sunshine), COOP, London, Paradiso, Amsterdam, Clinic, Zurich (Straight Ahead), Fragil, Lisbon, Kontrapunkt, Zagreb

Domu and Volcov met thanks to their Reinforced connections and Domu soon joined Volcov's Archive label with the highly acclaimed "Mandaloria". Together they have already released original music on Versatile, Papa and COOP vol.2, as well as remixed Vikter Duplaix, Koop and Nutmeg (Dego). The RIMA concept was born after many DJ gigs and sessions listening together to Fusion-Brazilian legends (Azymuth, Airto & Flora,..), Detroit techno and classic soul. The name means "rhyme" in Italian and is also an Headhunters track loved by both…

Artwork Design

Delta, one of Europeans pioneering graffiti artists, designed the complete artwork (12", album and picture disc). Delta is famous for his self-developed complex and three-dimensional style. He already worked on many highly acclaimed projects as he contributed work for expos in Tokyo and Eindhoven as well as for several companies, fashion shops and clubs. Delta is also one third of design group DEFUMO (www.defumo.org) aka Delta, Futura and Mode2. New York's Futura is probably the most famous graphic designer coming from a graffiti background To name a few of his works, he did several artworks for Mo Wax, especially the artwork for the UNKLE album brought him wide recognition, and in the last year he designed a clothing range in corporation with Levis Japan. Mode2 already worked with Jean-Baptiste Mondino, one of the leading photographers of the last 20 years, and defined his own niche in and outside of the Hip Hop community.

RIMA ALBUM…in Domu's words

1) So Sweet (Intro)

2) Modern Times: A pint of alchohol and some chips with Mr Obrien, accompanied by some very confusing Jazz chords…niiiiiiiice!

3) Rivers: The only real Broken Beat style track, Enrico done the beats and I think are some of his best yet. Mr De Clive Lowe on keys again giving it some Moog Rogue action that lifts this track to me as a very strong moment.

4) Fluff: This is a big Stevie Wonder influenced cloud of sound that I did in a few hours, which really released some built up emotions…I just have to keep practicing a part till I get it when I don't use MIDI, so this was an opportunity to use my secret weapon on the Rima album-the ELKA!

5) Let it Go: One for the dancefloor, an overall rounded contribution from Domu, Volcov and Julie…Ms Dexter's performance giving the smooth production the edge it needed to become one of the albums high points.

6) This World: A track that explores the thought that we cannot possibly be the only race in this huge, huge universe, and that if there was a god, why would he create so much for so few…

7) Bonkers: This is self-explanatory.

8) Vidigal: A track to utilise my musician friends from my old band, a dirty 70's styled recording in a modern context.

9) Subdued: ahhh! The intstrumental everbody seemed to like but never got around to performing on…a quick decision to work with George Levin turned this little instrumental into a touching, soulful ballad about keeping your Ex-partners at a distance. George is a bad boy…

10) O Vento Dira (The Wind Will Answer): A jam with my bass playing friend Robert Marin turned into a very loose funky Brazilian instrumental-enter Lucia with a hook up with Brazilian vocalist Cida de Assis, who turns in a wonderful performance on this catchy little number. This comes from many a Airto/Flora listening session, but the chords were directly influenced by an obscure Larry Young track. Can YOU name it??

11) Simian Society: Pure monkey biznizz, combining the batacuda with techno seemed to sum up the point of the album, that sometimes things can develop in different times and places but be linked, somehow…

12) Real Love: A sexy techno ballad??? Mark De Clive Lowe creating with ease a smooth progression which Nick wrote to with ease, but the beats make this tune either slightly unusual or a bit commercial. I think it again shows the possibilities of fusing all your influences to come up with a nice song, in a dance context.

13) Telos: This to me is working at a time I don't usually work, and came up with something that I would have never usually made. It is a weird little thing that leaves me thinking, "what on earth were we thinking about".

14) Interlude: I don't know how this was made, is it samples, is it played…just the thing I like in a track…

15) So Sweet: The longest of tracks to finish, it is by far the least easy to understand, which makes me love it loads. None of the parts really sit that easily with each other, making for interesting listening, but if you hear it a few times, I think it will grow and grow…

"This World" comes across all laid-back and peaceful. A straight solid beat sidels through the whole track, flutes softly burst through the background. What could go wrong with Mark De Clive-Lowe who's also co-written fourth track, "Real Love", on keyboards and Kaidi Tatham doing percussion ? Nicola's clear vocals, softly aspirated, evoke a loungy late-evening flair.

Even without Nicola's entrancing voice, "This World"'s a bomb from which the instrumental version can tell. Slight breakbeat action on the 2000 Black Excursion mix which is of course 4Hero! And if we wouldn't be surprised enough the boys laid hands on their own track "Real Love", Rima Rmx, and, yes, turned their "sexy techno ballad" (Domu) into a slick 2Step/R&B number sung by Colonel Red. Astonishing.

"This World" will also be available in a nice and exclusive limited edition picture disc (desgin by Delta).

Why not lingering a while, escaping for this world into Rima's bittersweet audio version.
