Following the Munich Disco Era, which influenced a whole party generation, the Isar city's creative surge has never stopped and is experiencing a new wave of interest. Celebrated in the international press Munich's quality productions (Gigolo, Compost, Gomma, Erkrankung durch Musique, Disko B) have now conquered the dance-floors of their homeland. Isargold combines previously unreleased material, cult classics and hitherto undiscovered gems a special mix which presents a survey of Munich's dynamic label and production scene. In addition to this musical overview the booklet includes a select list of bars and clubs, in which the specific Munich sound is featured. This package was compiled by Benjamin Fröhlich, himself an integral part of the Bavarian capital's flourishing music scene. In his beginnings he organised illegal parties, which enjoyed great popularity and where he also stood behind the turntables. In the meantime Benjamin Fröhlich has established himself as a DJ and party organiser. Last but not least, he runs the record shop play-records, an indispensable contact point and meeting place for the many artists and producers presented on Isargold. This is the strictly limited 12" extraction of the "Isar Gold" CD. Prepare to shake it with those 4 slammers: Magnifique "Magnifique Part I": Magnifique produced by Anthony Moon, who was also the producer of Munich disco star Amanda Lear, is a very good example for the disco sound turning into hinrg in the beginning of the 80s. With the spacey synthesizer and the hard driving beats it has all the ingredients for a true Munich Disco track and plays in a league with Giorgio Moroder's "The Chase". How up-to-date this sound still is, shows the fact that Jersey Devil Social Club recently did a cover version of Magnifique on Morgan Geist Environ label. Ben Mono feat. Capital A "Transmission" (captain A'nd his space organ orchestra mix): Ben Mono aka Paul Beller is our musical Wunderkind from Giesing. At the age of 23 the self-taught drummer, keyboarder and bass player released his first 12" together with David Muallem under the name "Force & Paul" which earned him a reputation as a break beat "sharp-shooter". After his involvement in several other projects he finished his debut album which was released in 2003 on Compost Records. On Transmission Ben Mono collaborated with Philly's finest MC Capital A and created nothing less but an "absolute space funk bomb" which is featured on this CD in a remix by former Les Gammas member Jochen Helfert. Previously unreleased. Jichael Mackson "Charmin": With "Charmin'" Jichael Mackson aka Boris Steffen delivers a truly deep masterpiece and future classic. It' s like basic channel meets clique house in the discotheque. The cut up string sounds and the dreamy melody take it to another level. Love it! Julius Kammerl "Dromedar": After contributions on "Future Sound Of Jazz" Vol. 9 and the first Black Label Series on Compost this is the third instalment of young producer Julius Kammerl. He started his DJing career at a such a young age he wouldn't have even been allowed to enter the clubs he played in. Since then he has shaken the Munich underground party scene as a member of the Balestra Beats crew. On "Dromedar" he continues his unique style. |
