"Retreated" Ever since their foundation in 1997, the art of remixing has been extensively exercised by the three Trüby Trio members; Rainer Trüby, Roland Appel & Christian Prommer. Amalgamating different flavours like brazil, latin, boogie, tech-house, electro, drum & bass or even disco has led to the guys being inventors of a wholly new dance genre. The idea of compiling and releasing the up till now vinyl only Trüby Trio remixes on CD has been spinning in Compost heads for some time already. But it wasn´t enough for the Trio nor for Compost because nobody wanted to chart with "the old stuff". So keeping it fresh, updated and more complex was the aim because if the Trio`s handling with styles, musical barriers are excluded! And with names like Little Louie Vega, Whignomy Brothers, Yam Who, Nickodemus, Fabrice Lig, Una Bombers, Gucciman Daniel Klein, Guillaume Boulard and many more you can make sure that only the best representatives of their styles have passed the selections. Wet paint! The second paintwork was done by Rainer Trüby himself on the nonstop Bonus Mix CD, related to their Elevator Music concept. Music not to drive by! And boy, you´ve got lots of remix highlights neatly wrapped in that musical package. Let alone Guillaume Boulard: When the Trüby Trio was playing the white label of his remix, people were wondering about which whiz kid has come up with this burner. And in the end mixes by Gucciman or Whignomy Bros will leave a burnt mark on dancefloors. Please do take notice that not all tracks on the CD were available on 12 before!!! |

" Alegre 2004" Having just released their debut album Elevator Music a groove and a half ago, Trüby Trio now make a further move. Alegre 2004 is the third taster in a forthcoming series of remixes to be released on Compost Records in October 2004 and this time its Trüby Trio again who have Retreated and let some other artists get the remix-shoe on. Beginning with their foundation in 1997, the art of remixing has been extensively exercised by the (logically) three members of Trüby Trio, Rainer Trüby, Roland Appel & Christian Prommer. Since the very beginning they played in the Champions League of the dance business, as they brought different flavours like Brazil, Latin or even Disco music together. In doing this they were one of the inventors for a completely new dance genre. Ever since the interest in their music has been steadily growing - just think of their remix works for such artists as Turntable Rocker, Nitin Sawhney, Peace Orchestra, Bebel Gilberto, Klaus Doldinger and Frederic Galliano. But in the meantime, the situations changed and some other electronic maestros have taken care of the Trüby Trio tracks. Maestros such as Louie Vega. Being head of the Masters At Work label and production team together with Kenny Dope, Grammy nominee Louie Vega consequently applies this principle to his own remix work as well and is represented with 4 approaches to Alegre 2004 on this 12. Beside the Elements Of Life main mix, the featured versions also include a dub mix and two more versions of Alegre 2004 that will make you keep that swingin feel in mind which the originals by Trüby Trio already contained. Heading for the next Grammy nomination, eh? |

"A Festa / Jaleo" You´ve found amusement playing with the Elevator Music ballpens, got fairly buzzed on their Grauburgunder Kabinett dry wine and now ? Trüby Trio strike again, here´s the second release off freshly-released first album Elevator Music. Energetic and trippy A Festa and two new Jaleo remixes deluxe by the likes of Senor Coconut and Cuica. The Trio was founded in 1997 by Rainer Trüby, Roland Appel & Christian Prommer. Since their very beginning they played in the Champions League of dance business, as they combined different flavours like Brazil, Latin or even Disco and invented a completely new dance genre. Ever since the interest in their music has been steadily growing. Just think of their remix works for such artists as Turntable Rocker, Nitin Sawhney, Peace Orchestra, Bebel Gilberto, Klaus Doldinger and Frederic Galliano. In 2001 they reached another milestone as they were asked to contribute their favourite tunes for the DJ-Kicks series, for which they also toured the world, where they were able to pick up all sorts of different cultural and musical influences for their inspiration, and finally they were able to work on a full-length album project. Their crackin tune A Go Go, which can be considered one of the first Latin Drum & Bass track ever, a long time before this genre was established. The track was on the second 12inch release (CPT 058) and made it onto the soundtrack score of the successful movie Anatomie featuring actress Franka Potente (The Bourne Identity, Run Lola Run). It was also recently used for the United Nations Development Programme`s (UNDP) charity spot "The Most Beautiful Gesture" featuring soccer pros Ronaldo and Zidane. The spot was broadcasted on various TV channels wordwide. The Trio will be touring the world as DJs and also perform live at several special occasions, introducting their album. Check our website www.compost-records.com for more info on the tourdates. The Trio on A Festa : A Festa|written by Roland W. Appel , Christian Prommer, Rainer Trüby; lyrics by Jorge Ben Bossa Nova aint too far away from Drum&Bass. Doubling the beats up, keeping the Brazilian funkiness, this one comes strong in the best Trio tradition. Organic grooves man Mike T. out of New York spices it up with some bongo action. On Side B we´re greeted by Simone Serritella and Pete Herbert aka Cuica. Describing their sound as pure entertainment prime-time beats with a Brazilian twist the Italian / English duo reinvented the first single off the new Trüby Trio album, Jaleo, for the tribal dancefloor with few vocals, casual beeps, slight delicate house and emphasized drums. Notice the answerphone message at the end of the track. Prime time indeed. Who could be better for remixing Jaleo than Senor Coconut ? Yes, German-bred and Chilean-based ambient-techno artist Uwe Schmidt aka Atom Heart has been babysitting Jaleo and taught it some mambo moves. Famous for his weird Brazilian Kraftwerk covers on El Baile Aleman, Senor Coconut is now doing interpretations of rock classics such as Smoke On The Water or Beat It. So grab your friends and CHA CHA CHA ! |

"Elevator Music" "Elevator Music some people might think, what a dodgy title, but imagine that one day this sort of music will be played in elevators, shopping malls, airports, radio or maybe in your local yoga class... how wonderful would that be? One thing is sure, the Trio will give their last record to realise this dream. Fight For Good Music! Some facts: After several 12inch releases on Compost Records, plenty of great remix works and the DJ-Kicks (K7 Records) compilation the Trüby Trio presents their debut album Elevator Music on Compost Records. On board are guest appearances by Joseph Malik, Marcus Begg, Wunmi, Concha Buika amongst many others. The Trio was founded in 1997 by Rainer Trüby, Roland Appel & Christian Prommer. Roland and Chris are famous for their Fauna Flash (Aquarius, Fusion, Confusion) releases as well as for their Voom : Voom project together with Vienna mastermind Peter Kruder. As few people might know Christian and Roland are both drummers, and used to play in competing Munich school-bands, later they both worked as professional musicians for various studio jobs, before they finally joined forces. Rainer was member of Compost act A Forest Mighty Black, and also made himself a name as superb compiler, as he did compilations for Nuphonic (Root Down 99), Talkin Loud (Talkin Jazz 3, with Gilles Peterson), and of course for Compost Records the Brazilian flavoured Glücklich series (Vol. 1 5). After all, most famous is Rainer for his DJ-ing. He already played at all the important underground venues in the world and his monthly club night Root Down in Freiburg, Germany, is very well known and was already home to many guest DJs such as Gilles Peterson, Kruder & Dorfmeister or 4 Hero. Gilles Peterson chose Rainer Trüby as his favourite DJ in his personal Top 3 DJ-Charts in DJ Magazine and Muzik. Rainer was also nominated for Best DJ at the German Dance Awards. Some information about the guest musicians: Don Kills Me, Chris! Freeman: The Trio occasionally met him in Los Angeles where they asked him to be part of the album process. In the past Don was keyboard player at the legendary Sister Sledge (during the Muhammed Ali Film- Tour in Africa), and he also played with Astrud Gilberto, Stanley Clarke, Patti LaBelle and all the other heroes we admire. At the moment he works with the West-London collective. Wunmi: She already lent her voice to Masters At Work (Tribute, Ekabo) and Bugz In The Attic (Zombie, which can be found on the Tribute to Fela Kuti Red, Hot & Blue compilation). Moreover she was dancer at the legendary London soul outfit Soul II Soul, and even ended up being the model for their Club Classics Vol.1 album cover. Nowadays she lives in New York and at the moment she is working on her own debut album. Michi Mettke: The young talented keyboard and guitar player had his first studio job ever on the track Galicia, the first Trio 12. From this time on he became the secret weapon of the Trio. At the moment he is working as member of Beanfield on the new album. Joseph Malik: The Scottish singer / songwriter came along with his brilliant debut album Diverse (Compost Records) in 2002. Malik already worked with the Trio on High Jazz, their track for the DJ-Kicks compilation. Raoul Walton: Born and raised in NYC, Raoul played with some highly acclaimed jazz people, such as Billy Cobham, Dom Um Romao, Kenny Kirkland, and ended up via Switzerland in Munich, where he became a major studio and tour bassist (e.g. Marius Müller-Westernhagen, Heinz Rudolf Kunze). With his project Wei-Chi he appeared on Glücklich Vol.3 and Compost 100. Raoul is the oldest homie within the trio; he is responsible for all the killer basslines on the tracks. A Wei-Chi debut album for Compost Records will come soon. Marcus Begg: Irresistible London soul voice, who performs as Ne-Grove, and also worked with Modaji, Nathan Haines and many others - a man to watch. Mike T.: New York cat, percussionist for organic grooves, a label and party-collective in the big apple. Marc Sydney Müller & Tony Nirschl are both talented Munich cats from the old Roland / Chris band circuit. They are both professional musicians and it was a pleasure to work with them again after so many years. Concha Buika is part-time Madrilena and part-time Mallorquina, and she is the first Spanish voice for the Trio. In Spain she is a famous jazz singer and her voice is also featured on a lot of deep house productions from Flamingo Discos, Mallorca, such as Smurf & Perry (Lovin You), Kiko Navarro, Raw Soul Orchestra and Ralf Gum. |

Come hugging with Tiefschwarz and Âme on their remakings of Universal Love. The Trio was founded in 1997 by Rainer Trüby, Roland Appel & Christian Prommer. Appel, Christian Prommer, Rainer Trüby; lyrics by Marcus Begg, Larry Mizell, Fonce Mizell, Rodney Mizell We always had a weakness for the late 70s, early 80s boogie disco sound. Not to be confused with traditional boogie-woogie, this jam comes along hard and smooth and features vocalist Marcus Begg on top form. The title says it all! Brothers Ali and Basti Schwarz better known as Tiefschwarz have dug deep and gone back in time to cunningly convert Universal Love into an 80s Electroclash track. Marcus Begg has been distorted via vocoder and purrs into the mic. Inmidst the rhapsody as if you wouldn´t have been amazed enough already- you´ll be given a guitar solo, Van Halen would have dreamt of. This remix asks for lots of steam and sweat when clubbing. If this track was to have a colour it would definately be neon. Âme enable you coming down again.Smooth Detroit/Deep House and straight NYC Disco-influenced, Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann off Karlsruhe know where it´s at and neatly arranged Universal Love into groovy House. Kristian gets influenced by his small and convenient record store called Platten:Tasche whereas Frank has already been releasing under the name of Soul FC and has had two releases on Sonar Kollektiv as Âme. His TraneSpotting track is featured on Future Sounds Of Jazz Vol.8 (CPT 102). |

"High Jazz" Its future-retro funk time yeah yeah! The man who took Destinys Child underground puts his magic fingers on High Jazz. Freeform Five is one of the best leftfield producers and remixers these days and there were more than one reasons to choose him for remixing this. He can kick vocals, his distinctive feel and ability to rework anything with musical skills, without loosing the song, and take it any further is his trademark. He added a totally different flair to the original, turned it into an 80s boogie tune with funky guitar licks and an explosive bass line for dancers full savvy. Just like Prince in the old days, this guy rocks the porn star parties. Freeform Five is responsible for some of the best remixes made in the past years. Just think of his classic version of Isolees Beau Mot Plague, or Tim Huttons Colours which was picked up by Trüby Trio on their DJ-Kicks. Perspex Sex wa s latest hit on Classic. The Trüby Trio just finished a remix for Wagon Cookins track Mar, out soon on Appetizers Records, and working on their debut album. |

"High Jazz Remixes" Part 1 Trüby Trios fine contribution to their DJ-Kicks compilation, the track High Jazz featuring the vocals of Jopseh Malik, finally gets the some remixes. First 12inch is mixed by Nicola Conte and by the Trio boys themselves. Watch out for CPT 117 that features another remix of High Jazz by Freeform Five. Nicola Conte from Bari, Italians mastermind and nowadays the grand senior of the whole Italian bossa and jazz movement, turns the original into a cool uplifting jazz house tune with superb solo ingredients. Nicola added some groovy instrumental licks that counterpart along with the vocals. This one swings and swings, maybe crying for a chilled cocktail, but keeps the 60ties jazz feel alive. Perfect for metropolitan lounges, smoky jazz rooms or sunny beach bars. Trüby Trios own treatment on High Jazz sets the tune in a completely new environment. Darker string sounds and a bass with a distinctive Detroit feel over the full vocals are responsible for the gloomy The Trüby Trio just finished a remix for Wagon Cookins track & Mar, and working on their debut album. |

Press Quotes on "Elevator Music" The album is fantastic. I actually had one of the press (cut off endings) copies a while back, so I was already familiar with most of the tunes. Only negative is that Carajillo wasn't included on the album, but truly a favorite of mine. Have been and continue to be my favorite artist out of the JCR / Compost camp. (Adam Kurzawa / Giant Step Records, Juli 03 Truby Trio, "Jaleo" is my #1 pick for the past 2 months- The bass groove & passionate vocals keep the dance floor sexy every time! This is a Turntables on the Hudson anthem already! (Nickodemus / Rhythm Love / Turntables on the Hudson; Juli 03) I'm glad they updated my favorite song by them and put it on the album. I also like the very last song on the album. You guys should have Madlib remix a track! (Peanut Butter Wolf / Stones Throw, Juli 03) Definitely feeling this release...a tasty and varied offering and a step forward for the crew. While we all know and love Alegre 2003, its Jaleo that is really killing me right now! Thanks for sending this along! (Chris Gray / QUANGO , Palm Pictures, Juli 03) The album is actually growing on me quite a bit ..At first there were only a couple of tracks that stood out, but after a few more listens, I think the album overall is pretty solid & impressive! (Jamie Strong / Ubiquity records, Juli 03) I love the record. It works perfectly in the summer and I will be playing it a lot. (Kavi Ori / A&R Virgin Records, Juli 03) I love the record. I played a track on Wednesday night at our Transistor Lounge party right at the end of my set before Nicola Conte went on and the people went absolutely bananas! (Dave / Spectre Radio, Juli 03) Love the CD, a good mix of different flavors, usual great production skill. Favorite tunes: Universal Love, Jaleo, the tracks with Wunmi. 4/5 for me. (Fabrizio Carrer / Irma, Juli 03) I'm going away on vacation next week and will definitely be bringing Elevator Music along with me! (DE:BUG, Juni 03) It´s not ´elevator music´, thankfully, but it will lift your spirits. (Muzik, May 03) Munich-based nu-jazz gods Trüby, Prommer and Appel have birthed a work infused with positivity and sun-drenched good times... (XLR8R, May 03) This is gonna be pretty essential for the summer. (Breakin´ Point, June 03) Truby Trio´s much anticipated debut album is aimed squarely at elevating the dancefloor... Another soundtrack to the summer of 2003. For sure. (Straight no chaser, Summer 03) Selten war Fahrstuhlmusik so angenehm erträglich. (www.Musikexpress.de) So schön kann Muzak sein. (Style & The Family Tunes, Juni 03) "Rather than coming over as fussy and contrived, their interpretation of dancefloor jazz is innovative and propulsive." - Muzik magazine "Forget Botox, nu-jazz is clearly the secret to eternal youth........'Elevator Music' lifts the spirits and soothes the soul" - DJ magazine "Low end Latin theories backed with squelchy Brazilian bass and disco vibes make this elevator music essential for sweaty nights out" - Dazed and Confused "Truby's dancefloor schooling, ,combined with the production prowess of the 'other two' (Roland Appel and Christian Prommer), truly take 'Elevator Music' to the next level. - Jockey Slut "The Trio take a real variety of music forms they know and love and tweak and twist them to create their own very engaging sound" - Blues and Soul "Truby Trio's album is upon us, and as you'd expect it pushes all the right buttons with it's melting pot of musical styles and influences" - IDJ "Thoroughly pleasant and sometimes damn funky" - Independent on Sunday "Another soundtrack to the summer of 2003. for sure." - Straight No Chaser |
