Info: What a punch. Idiosyncratic house music with a subtil disco submission. Crunchy, wirily, powerful, rising deep and as George Clinton used to say: “Standing on the verge and getting on and on and on…” / “Follow your mind and your ass will follow”. Or was that other way round. Initially this coop was born on Ibiza. K’bonus from Antwerp was invited to come and play with Nightmares On Wax and his Wax On Records crew in Ibiza, where Negghead is a fixed star of the Wax On family. It resulted in a remix by K’bonus for Negg’s tune “You”, which got picked up and played by the likes of Moodymann, Benji B, a.o., while recently Negghead remixed one of K’bonus tunes for his release on Lovemonk.
Introduction to the artists:
In 2010 K’bonus released several singles and an album with Dutch artist U-Gene as Boohgaloo Zoo on Lovemonk. Further back in time he played the drums in the band Dedos, DJed at each and every funk-boogie-breaks-soul-techno-hip-hop-house party ever held in Belgium, well some more in Europe and the USA, and furthermore as a producer he released albums or singles on Wha?Roots, Pulver, Eighttrack or N.I.C.E. Records. Now K’bonus is focussing on his solo work again, spreading the funk n boogie like there’s no tomorrow.
The Last 12 Months have been another highly successful year for the man known as Negghead. The end of 2009 saw him release his first album on Wax On Records, the label guided by Nightmares On Wax’s leading light DJ EASE. Titled ‘Scrambled Negg’. the album received support from a wide range of DJ’s such as Moodymann, Benji B, Velanche & Chris Coco.
Following its release and the end on the Ibizan summer season, where Dan spent his time DJing at venues such as Café Mambo, Pacha and Kumharas, he decided to base himself in Australia for the winter to help continue the buzz around the album.
The 2010 Ibizan summer also saw Negghead take up a new residency alongside DJ EASE for the much talked about Wax On Records party ‘Wax Da Jam’ at Aura. With guests such as DJ Shadow, Roots Manuva, Ricky Ranking (Roots Manuva, Banana Klan) & Shovell (M.People) performing along side them every week the party created a real buzz on the island.
As well as featuring at these events Negghead also performs with his production duo Acid Mondays, a twisted house & techno outfit he does with long-term friend and fellow DJ Alex Wolfenden (Lex Wolf). With releases on 20:20 Vision, Magnetic & Illusion their psychedelic slant on 4/4 music has gained support from big names such as Reboot, DJ Sneak, Steve Lawler, Paul Woolford, Yousef & Sascha Dive.
Coming off the back of another tour down under to Australia he has returned to his spiritual home of Ibiza for the summer of 2011 to take up the 2nd year of his residency at Wax Da Jam. With dates lined up for We Love Sundays @ Space, Zoo Project, Sands and future releases on Wax On, Lovemonk and Compost it looks like its going to be another busy endless summer.
Formed somewhere in the 5th dimension, Acid Mondays is the cosmic coalition of fellow psychonaughts Negghead and Lex Wolf. Bought together by their love for fat beats, inter dimensional travel & cups of tea, they are on a journey of exploring inner & outer space. Expect black hole waltzes, warped wormhole house and dark matter techno. It would be a cliché to say they have a great future but they’ve been there and its not that good so they’ve come back to the NOW.
Dave Brody got fascinated by music thrue his family. At home they played music all the time…70′s funk, soul, disco, dub, reggae where just a few genres to name he got exposed to. Inspired by all this Dave began a quest to find his own musical identity. He started searching for new sounds and buying records like crazy! Later that year he mixed his first demo together but still not satisfied about the result he explained his ideas to a friend who had a small studio set-up and a totally new world opened for him! Soon he had his first demo together and got invited to work in a bigger studio in Antwerp to produce tracks on a regular base.He teamed up with Ramon Tapia and formed ‘El Carlitto & Chonzales’! Together they released on labels such as King Kong or Turbo Records. More recently they did a collaboration for Strictly Rhythm. From now on music will be Dave’s main focus
