Quotes: The German jazz scene kicks up another excellent 12”, this time from Hamburg’s Worldless People. For a laidback yet funky tune check ‘Positivity’… For the dancefloor ‘Minority’ is the one; a chiply little bassline, funky 4/4 beats and some jazzy keys make this a dancefloor winner every time. SNC
Info: After Worldless People’s debut 12” in January 2001, which received great response from press and DJs (Anthony Nicholson, Derrick Carter, Tiefschwarz), now their second instalment for Compost. The EP kicks off with the new track “EL Primitivo”. Nice uplifting House music and a slice of Brazil, which makes the track not only a winner on every late-night summer party. The second track is a dub version of “Won’t Let You Down”. The original was Wolfgang Rüter’s and Daniel Magg’s contribution to the Compost 100 compilation. On side B Glance aka Thorsten Scheu from Darmstadt, Germany, did a remix of “Won’t Let You Down”. A top-class production, the track has less jazzy elements and slowly builds up great atmosphere. The bassline perfectly grooves – this is essential dance music. After several highly-acclaimed 12inches, Glance recently released his first album on Stir 15, one of Germany’s highly hyped Deep & Minimal-House labels at the moment. Worldless People did remixes for Soldrhythm´s track “Somebody” on EastWest, then for De Phazz vs. Mr. Rossi and “Viva La Felicita” on EastWest, for Universal Funk’s track “Don’t Take It All” on April Records, and finally for Bougie Soliterre’s track “Besides You”, out on Compost Records.
